Andrew Johnson, a correctional officer at the California Institute for Women in Chino, is suing the L.A. Police Department for the right to march in the West Hollywood Gay Pride parade and is being represented by attorney Gloria Allred, TMZ reports:
"Gloria says Johnson's was told he was denied the right march in uniform at a gay pride parade. Gloria says LAPD officers and members of the California Highway Patrol are allowed to march in uniform … so why not let Johnson? Allred says she's filed a complaint with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, alleging discrimination based on sexual orientation."
According to TMZ, "Allred says the Department responded in writing that the march would be a 'discredit' to the cop shop."
