Original Article: Residents startle Provo burglars

PROVO — A pair of burglars got more than they bargained for when they were startled by their would-be victims in a Friday encounter.

A Provo police department release said the incident unfolded at the Raintree Apartments, where two Draper men were trying unlocked doors intent on lifting property.

When the two men entered one apartment, they were confronted by the residents, according to police. One man bolted, but the other ended up in a physical altercation with the residents, who detained him until officers arrived.

Police were able to track the other man, and both were booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of residential burglary.
