The Judicial Conduct Commission, which investigates complaints against Utah state judges and deals with disciplinary matters, did not sanction any Utah judges during fiscal year 2009.
In its annual report, the JCC announced that it received 85 complaints about judges in the Utah court system that year and of those complaints, 74 were investigated and dismissed while 11 are still under review.
District courts produced the greatest number of complaints — 48 — with justice courts yielding 20, juvenile court producing 12, pro tempore courts (temporary courts with an individual appointed to serve as judge) getting four, and the Utah Supreme Court receiving one complaint naming all five justices.
