Original Article: Man arrested after shooting incident in Millcreek

TAYLORSVILLE — A Millcreek man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly firing multiple rounds at another man who was struck in the leg.

Salt Lake County deputies said there was conflicting information from witnesses, but they believe the victim went to the man’s apartment at the Riverbend complex at 845 W. 3900 South to visit a friend and was shot at multiple times by the other man around 5 p.m.

One of the bullets ricocheted off the ground and shrapnel pierced the victim’s legs, Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Lt. Don Hutson said. The man was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

A 21-year-old man was taken into custody for questioning and then later booked into Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault.

“What’s confusing is the relationship between the victim and suspect,” Hutson said. “We’re getting conflicting stories.”

The shooting remains under investigation.
