I hate to have to belabor this point because I’m really sick of it, but…for the record…

Last night on Barbara Walters’ ABC special the network had no problem showing a clip of Lady Gaga in a lip-lock with a female dancer in her “Love Game” video (above), but when it came time to discuss Adam Lambert’s performance at the American Music Awards in a segment following shortly thereafter, Walters said, “He also turned the music industry inside out, doing things we won’t show you here.”

Why not?

TMZ reports: “ABC says there is not even a trace of homophobia in the network’s decision to 86 the Adam Lambert kiss from the Barbara Walters special last night. The network says, ‘It was an editorial decision to show very little from the performance and focus on the fresh, new interview with Adam Lambert.’

Interesting, because the ‘fresh new interview’ was all about ‘the kiss.’

ABC went on to explain its decision to show girl-on-girl by saying, ‘The Lady Gaga kiss was used quickly in context of things that upset her father.’”

On his Sirius OutQ radio show yesterday, Michelangelo Signorile interviewed GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios about the group's mishandling of the Adam Lambert ABC controversy. As you may remember, they sent out three separate statements regarding ABC's double-standard.

Signorile has posted the interview.

Signorile writes: "Overall I think GLAAD has long way to go in explaining what happened
here and also it's larger mission. It is compromised by the fact that
it takes money from ABC –something else we discussed — and that it
just doesn't seem to be at the forefront of controversies and
defamation, more so focused on giving out awards and patting media on
the back."

Adam Lambert made show tunes night at Splash bar in NYC a bit gayer last night. Towleroad received these photos from reader Len Evans of Lambert, his group, and fans (above), and Splash promoter Dougie Meyer (below).

A poster to the forums at Broadway World gushes:  "What I thought was just going to be a regular night at Musical Mondays at SPLASH Bar turned-out to be pretty exciting.

Around 9:30pm, none-other-than Adam Lambert himself comes strolling in! With about 3 friends, he moved to the back of the bar into a booth.

And… a million cell phones immediately whipped out texting friends and updating their Twitter/Facebook statuses.

I got the balls to walk over and say hi (thanks to a great friend who pulled me into the booth).

He is much skinnier than I thought he would be. Glam black make-up. Black crow hair coiffed to high-heaven. Black fingertip-less gloves, black shirt and pants, long dangly chain around his neck…. (Love child of Liza and Joanne Worley?!) BUT SOOOO SWEET IN PERSON!

I introduced myself and friend as members of the NYC Gay Mens Chorus (we were flyering the tables). Told him I was there when he got accepted at his San Francisco audition (laughed that he went skipping down the street).

Then asked him why he was in-town. He is taping THE VIEW tomorrow but was sad that Whoopi wasnt going to be there. I told him to slap Elizabeth for us. He joked that he was going to be really condescending and call her Lizzie during the interview. Soooo sweet and surprisingly receptive to fans saying hello.

He left around 10:15pm, hugging/kissing fans on the way out."

Michael Musto reports they were making the rounds: "'He was getting crazy attention,' reports my friend, who observed and
overheard Adam and his group and decided they seemed to be going on to
the cruise bar Barracuda!"

Adam Lambert will be seen again on ABC this Thursday, in a taped
segment for The View and in a taped Barbara Walters interview. Apparently he's still too gay and unpredictable to appear
live.

EW's Ken Tucker reports that the ladies of The View discussed the appearance this morning:

"This morning on The View, Barbara Walters said that this Thursday’s appearance by Adam Lambert will be taped in advance, rather than live-to-tape as usual, 'because people seem to be afraid of what he’ll do.'

Sherri Shepherd laughed at this excessive caution. 'Why?' she asked. 'Is he gonna take one of our heads and grind it into his crotch?'

Joy Behar, perhaps feeling a tad faint as this image entered her mind, said, 'I wish he would. I’d like to see it up close.'

And although no one asked her, Elisabeth Hasselbeck said, 'The only thing I was against was him sticking his hand up the woman’s crotch' during the American Music Awards."

So, don't be fooled by reports of a thaw in ABC's homophobic policies toward Lambert.
